Friday evening saw our first Cheshire Clubs X7s event hosted at Sandbach RUFC. With the view of looking at club recruitment and engagement opportunities outside of the traditional season invitations were sent out across the area for Under 15 Girls to come along and participate. Sadly only three local clubs attended but that did not detract from what the evening provided the participants and spectators. We were also blessed with the presence of the newly appointed Chair of the Cheshire RFU, Paula Bradbury, who watched from the side-lines with interest commenting “… I really enjoyed it – it was good to talk to the parents and see the girls having so much fun . . . the girls did enjoy it … the pitch was in great condition too – Sandbach did a great job”. The sun was shining with former J&M chair, Mat Dolan, organising proceedings and the club providing two superb young match officials the evening was a huge positive. Players swapped teams when needed, happily playing against their own team (and scoring against them too!) with one of the players stating that … “I liked how fun and upbeat it was with the games”. Parents on the side-lines were full of praise for the abbreviated version of the game – the added bonus of burgers and chips afterwards was also a highlight of the evening. We , as a county, are looking at hosting further events at Chester RUFC, Sale FC and Wirral RUFC throughout the summer/early autumn
