Dear All,
Attached is the proposed new structure for Level 7, 8 & 9. Those clubs that have been following this matter closely will no doubt be pleased to see the proposals which of course are still subject to individual appeals from any club. However, I would like to thank the people at RFU Governance and RFU Discipline for their assistance in this matter. I would also like to thank David Ewing, John Downham, Martin Wroe amongst many others who have put in countless hours on this matter. The e-mail count personally for this matter is 671 – which will give you some idea of the scale of this task. If e-mails along took 5 minutes each that represents 56 hours or nearly 7 working days!

Notwithstanding, it is not without considerable sadness for me that we have reached a point whereby 19 Lancashire Clubs have left the RFU English Clubs Competition and Cumbria are now forced to form a separate league in order to achieve a pragmatic solution for the coming season.

For those clubs at Level 9 you will no doubt have seen that both Ramsey & Vagabonds are in this league. This was always likely to be a possibility however, the clubs on the island have been informed of the cost issues that some clubs have faced in respect of on-island travel. They have listened and have come up with a number of cheaper solutions which appear to be as little as £100 per trip. We will liaise with the relevant clubs in these leagues in due course.

We trust that you find the proposed solution acceptable to your club and trust that you will have a most enjoyable time in the season to come.

Kind Regards

Colin Free
